FROM THEIR WEBSITE/ NEED TO CHANGE The agricultural farm Maria Donata Bianchi is a consolidated reality of the west Ligurian viticulture. Since four generation the history of the family has been intrinsically linked with vineyards and wines. Everything started with the great-grandfather Emanuele, by trading wine and then planting a big vineyard in the plain of Andora. His son Pietro,a brilliant enologist, marked the Ligurian wines, giving an important contribute to their improvement. Emanuele Trevia, the current owner of the winery, planted several vineyards in Diano Castello and Diano Arentino and built the new winery. Marta Trevia graduated in viticulture and enology, supported her father with her experience and willingness to achieve new goals, always respecting the environment and a sustainable agriculture. The wines we produce are made exclusively using the grapes grown in our vineyards in Diano Arentino and Diano Castello. The first wine was bottled in 1977. A great love for the earth along with respect for traditional values, have resulted in the production of high quality wines, which are not a personal interpretation of wine making techniques, but represent the respectful transformation of the grape, a reward for the everyday hard work. We therefore treat our wine with the utmost care respecting the characteristics of the land where it originates. Our company produces two typical D.O.C. white wines, ‘Riviera Ligure di Ponente VERMENTINO and Riviera Ligure di Ponente PIGATO, as well as an intriguing red wine, LA MATTANA which was the fruit of Pietro Trevia’s intuition, oenologist and father of Emanuele. He was the first in the area to make wine with the Syrah and Grenache grapes. This combination proved without a shadow of a doubt that this territory well-known for its white wines, was also capable of producing great red wines. Two other wines are available: Red BORMANO wine, as well produced with Syrah and Grenache grapes, and White ANTICO SFIZIO wine, a Vermentino grape variety wine produced in the same way as 100 years ago. A new winery opened in 2003 in Diano Arentino in Via Merea, Valcrosa which is now the company’s base. The winery is surrounded by vineyards and is immersed in an untouched atmosphere. Situated next to the winery are the ‘Valcrosa’ self-catering villas which opened in 2009. The four independent villas are located within the vineyard and are ideal for guests who value silence and nature.

Silvia Maestrelli, wine producer in her Tuscany estate of Villa Petriolo at Ceretto Guidi, her husband Roberto Silva and winemaker Federico Curtaz have decided, with passion and conviction, to stake their bets on Sicily. In 2007, fascinated by this extraordinary beautiful and rich island, they bought a XVIII Century palmento, a large covered fermenting vat made of lava stone, which overlooks a one hundred year old vineyard, some 17 acres of Nerello Mascalese vines. “I’vigne di Fessina”, as people here define the vineyards of the estate, are guarded by a magnificent tree, whose roots, like a snake, wrap around the boundary wall of the hamlet of Rovittello and whose branches soar upwards towards the Nebrodi mountains. People call it Millicucco, the fascinating and hieratic guardian of the village.
Creator of one of Italy’s best Bordeaux-style blends, Tenuta San Leonardo is a prestigious and highly regarded estate in the heart of Vallagarina in the southernmost corner of Trentino.
The 300 hectare estate sits between the villages of Masi and Borghetto on the banks of the Adige River and has been run by the aristocratic Guerrieri Gonzaga family since the 18th century.
The vineyards, some 20 hectares, have fairly dry and loose gravelly soils, ideal for producing the three main varietals that make up the San Leonardo blend; Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The vines face north-south at between 150 and 200 meters above sea level and enjoy a temperate climate cooled by the Orca del Garda wind. The Cabernet Franc, which makes up 30% of the San Leonardo blend is much less green than usual on account of this unique terroir, and gives the wine its longevity.
The San Leonardo blend, matured in French barriques, is a powerful yet elegant wine that is full bodied with a wonderful depth of flavour.

Le Vigne di Zamò is a family run estate in the heart of the Colli Orientali wine zone of Friuli.
Begun by Tullio Zamò, son of local restaurateur, Luigi Zamò, in 1978 the estate’s vineyards now extend to 40 hectares and can be found in three locations; Rocca Bernarda, Ronchi di Buttrio and Rosazzo. The terroir at each location offers ideal conditions for the various local grape varieties Zamò specializes in.
Le Vigne di Zamò produces several excellent and noteworthy wines such as the Pignolo, the Ronco delle Acacie a blend of Friulano, Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco, and world class Friulano Vigne Cinquant’ Anni of which only 5,000 bottles are produced annually. They also produce an excellent sweet Picolit, with flavours of honey and apricot.
The name Mirafiore is both new and old, associated as it is with the wine estate in Serralunga d'Alba founded by Emanuele, Count of Mirafiore, the son of Victor Emmanuel II and Bela Rosin. The estate was first established in the 1870s, rising to international renown only to disappear the following century; the name remained dormant for more than seventy years until its reappearance today. This provided an opportunity for what is now a stunning return to the market.
The wines may in some ways be ‘new' but are produced in uncompromisingly strict observance of rules which can be traced back to the most refined and rigorous of Piedmontese traditions: long macerations on the skins, lengthy maturing, the use of medium-sized oak casks; and it all starts with exacting selection of ripe, healthy grapes.
All of this amounts to a range of wines which from the ‘humble' Dolcetto to the top single vineyard Lazzarito Barolo express the Piedmontese terroir and Nebbiolo as powerfully as any wines on the market today. The rigorous adherence to traditional wine making practices means that the common threads found in all of the estate's bottling are power, precision, age-worthiness and tremendous expression of fruit.

Pojer e Sandri
Pojer e Sandri
Pojer e Sandri is located outside the alpine village of Faedo between the Adige river and the Cembra valley in northern Italy’s Trentino region.
Fiorentino Sandri inherited the vineyards in 1975 when he teamed up with wine maker Mario Pojer and set about proving, against all current thinking of the time, that the area could produce world class wines. The farm’s first release of an exquisitely scented Muller Thurgau put Pojer e Sandri on the map and today they are one of Trentino’s best producers.
Pojer e Sandri produce a broad spectrum of wines including a Pinot Nero/Chardonnay Spumante, the local white varietal Nosiola and reds to make up their Bordeaux blend, Rosso Faye. They also produce a dessert wine called Merlino fortified with their own brandy, Divino and a selection of top quality grappas.

Col Vetoraz is one of only a few estates located in Cartizze, outside Valdobbiadene and home to Italy’s finest Proseccos. The vineyards are planted on steep hills, 400 meters above sea level.
Col Vetoraz’s defining style is the product of an exciting partnership between Loris Dall'Acqua, leading oenologist in the area and Paolo de Bortoli, sparkling wine expert. Their primary objective is to maintain the character, quality and freshness of the fruit in their Prosecco. This they have achieved through careful viticulture and the use of the Charmat method of fermentation. This expertise has resulted in a top quality Prosecco that has challenged many Franciacorta and Talento wines on blind tasting panels.
Col Vetoraz Prosecco is naturally balanced and graceful with a velvety smoothness.

For every great wine there is a story and this is no different for the Coffele Wines. The story starts with an encounter of love; the love of Giuseppe and Giovanna Visco Coffele in 1971. As their passion for each other grew, so did it for the land, for the vines and for the search of excellence in winemaking. The roots of this lay in the traditions of the family Visco, a historic family of vines growers of Soave that goes back to the mid-nineteenth century, when it harvested its grapes in Castelcerino, one of the best areas for the vinification of the Soave Classico.
The story moves to the present where we meet Alberto and Chiara Coffele, respected winemaker and sales manager.
The wines have Coffele born in the historical center of Soave, behind the ancient door where you find the winery located in a residence 16th Century. A place where the ancient traditions meet the liveliness of the young people, a perfect combination for an ideal wine tasting.

Originally part of the Fattoria dei Barbi estate in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, Mastrojanni is located in the south eastern area of Montalcino. This family-owned winery has been operating since 1970 when Gabriele Mastrojanni bought the farm after recognizing a great un-tapped potential for Brunello in Castelnuovo dell’Abate. Mastrojanni was one of the first producers of Brunello in the area.
The estate comprises 90 hectares, 24 of which under vines. These vineyards are all south, south-east facing and positioned between the river Orcia and the inactive volcano, Mount Amiata. The favorable microclimate coupled with gravel, sand, and limestone-rich soils lends structure to these wines and the Mastrojanni family, along with the talented Maurizio Castelli and Andrea Marchetti, consistently create Brunello that expresses this prime terroir.
It should be noted that varying amounts of these sought-after wines are produced every year, as the quantity will depend on the quality of the vintage, a typical annual production is around 80 thousand bottles. All the wines are aged in French oak barrels.

The beautiful Castello di Neive estate in the Barbaresco zone of Piedmont has played an important part in the development of the noble Nebbiolo grape since 1857 and can boast the famous Santo Stefano vineyard as part of its stable.
Bruno Giacosa, with his legendary Barbarescos of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, first brought the world’s attention to these vines. Even today, when he is more focused on making wines from estate-grown fruit, Giacosa speaks of Santo Stefano with reverence and awe, and lists it as the top vineyard in Barbaresco.
The 40 year old vines of Santo Stefano, mostly Nebbiolo Lampia and Nebbiolo Rosé, are planted on south facing slopes, 270 meters above sea level, in calcareous marl subsoil. Approximately 35,000 bottles are produced annually.
The wines, a straight Barbaresco and a Riserva, only produced in the best vintages, are full bodied but delicate, with floral and spiced aromas and pure, clean fruit. Their excellent balance and well-integrated tannins give them good aging potential. Both wines are aged in 30-50 hectoliter oak casks and then in bottle for at least 12 months before release.
Villa Sparina is a family estate in the Gavi district of Piedmont, an area that has specialised in growing Barbera and Dolcetto and most notably the white grape Cortese for more than 1,000 years. Here the Moccagatta family, who own Sparina, produce exquisite wines from all these local grapes. The wines are easily recognisable by their distinctive bottle shape.
Villa Sparina’s 60 hectares of vineyard are dotted around the Monterotondo hills and grow in predominantly clay-marl and clay-limestone soils. The mainly south facing vineyards are between 300 and 400 meters above sea level and benefit from the Ligurian sea’s cooling breezes, approximately 40km away.
With a greater than ever number of glowing endorsements from magazines and experts alike, Vincenzo Abbruzzese’s magnificent Brunello is finally receiving the full credit it deserves as one of Montalcino’s finest.
The relatively small estate, covering 10 hectares, was bought by the present owner’s grandfather, Martini Bramante in 1953 and sits in the cool Montosoli area north of Montalcino where the Sangiovese vineyards enjoy perfect growing conditions.
Since taking over Valdicava, Vincenzo has invested a lot of time and capital into shaping the vineyard into one of Montalcino’s best.
With low yields and long aging potential Valdicava Brunellos are increasingly being recognized as highly collectable wines, most notably the reserve label, Madonna del Pianno.
