WHAT THEY SAY
Ingrid Groiss describes herself with three words: passion, feeling, and determination. After a corporate career, she returned to her family's vineyards in Breitenwaida, Austria in 2010. Since then, she has been producing wines that reflect her personality and the terroir of the Weinviertel region. Her focus is on creating low intervention and unique wines that showcase their origin and varietal characteristics. In 2016, she transitioned to organic farming, emphasizing harmony with nature and careful vineyard management. Her signature wine, the Gemischter Satz, combines tradition with modern winemaking and has gained international recognition.
WHAT WE SAY
Ingrid Groiss stands out as a dynamic force in the Weinviertel, Austria's largest wine region. Her commitment to organic viticulture and minimal intervention in the cellar results in wines that are both expressive and authentic. From the mineral-rich Grüner Veltliners to the aromatic Rieslings and the traditional Gemischter Satz, her portfolio offers a compelling representation of the region's potential. Ingrid's wines are a testament to her dedication to quality and her deep connection to her family's winemaking heritage.
WHAT OTHERS SAY
"Ingrid Groiss is from a family whose winemaking history goes back centuries. So naturally she studied winemaking at Universität für Bodenkultur in Vienna, then took over the operations at her family’s vineyards. Her first course of action was to convert the land to organic and sustainable agriculture. Her bio states that, 'She is supremely passionate about her wines,' and this comes through loud and clear in all her wines.
2022 Grüner Veltliner Ried Pankraz Reserve
Pale yellow green, silver reflections. Tobacco herbal savouriness, some passion fruit, a hint of grapefruit zest, dark minerality, pineapple hints. Good complexity, tightly woven, white apple fruit, mineral salty, well-integrated acid structure, finely savoury finish, will benefit from bottle ageing. (94 Points, Peter Moser, Falstaff)
